Garba is a traditional Indian folk dance that originated in Gujarat. The word "garba" comes from a Sanskrit word that means "womb" or "deep". During Garba, people dance in a circle around an illuminated clay pot that represents the goddess Durga. Dancers start barefoot and move clockwise, snapping, clapping, and twirling to the beat of the dhol and trance music.
